Just powered up this blog with Live Search Box!

As you can see in the top right corner of this blog, there is a search box that looks a bit different than the standard search box for this blog skin. It's a custom Live Search Box that by default just searches through joeriksson.com with the help of the Live Search engine.

The results of the search is shown in a "drop-down window" (floating < DIV >) without navigating away from the page you are currently on.

Click on the picture to view it in it's original size

Is there any pros with this one compared to the built-in search? Well, don't know yet, just thought it was a bit cool and easy to implement. And I like the way the search results are displayed.

One pro could be that you can define the search box to search through several web sites of your choice.

Try the search box on this site to see how it works, and feel free to leave any comments on what you think about it.

I didn't know that, although I looked at his theme only yesterday. I guess it blended in too good with the theme. :-)

In any case, I was amazed how easy it was to add the Live Search.

A bad thing that I noticed with the Live Search box, is that is searches pages instead of posts. So in the case where I have 2 controls that shows popular posts and recommended reading, the search results will include every single page if I search for a word or phrase that's included in one of those lists.

CS search seems to search within actual posts, which is better at least for a blog.
