A new friend of mine

The first time I rode on a Vespa was in Rome 2014. What better place to ride on such a vehicle? It was so much fun, but at the same time scary to ride on something you’ve never tried before, in a city where you don’t know much about how the traffic works. Also since it was my first, and so far only time I’ve been in Rome, I didn’t really find my way around there. I rented the Vespa for 24 hours. It costed me around 40€. After about four hours I returned it though. Felt exhausted from concentrating so much on following the traffic and trying to find my way through the city. But at the same time I felt happy, since it was so much fun.

The second time was on a Yelp-event this year. We rented some Vespas from a newly started company in Stockholm, and went out for a ride through the city with a guide. I felt it was so wonderful to ride through the side on a nice summer evening. No need to look for parking places, you could park almost anywhere. You could stop here and there for a short while and walk around some interesting spot or viewpoint.

A few weeks later I felt I wanted to buy my own Vespa, so I could take a ride anytime I wanted. I found a reseller that was open during the weekend. Went there, and bought a white Vespa Primavera 50cc, which was the biggest motor my drivers license allowed. Since then Ive been out almost every day, for at least one ride. And I am loving it!

A photosession in a cold Stockholm

A couple of days ago I was asked if I could take a few portraits of a friend of mine. She wanted some new pictures of herself. Maybe to use as profile picture and such.

I am not very experienced in photoing people like that. It’s one thing to be out in the streets taking photos of strangers in different situations. But quiet different to for example take good portraits. But I like when I get the opportunity to learn by doing. Most people I know, don’t like to be photographed. So not much training there.

We went out for a little while. It was a bit cold and wet, so we didn’t keep on for too long. But got a few pictures. This one here I processed a bit afterwards in Silver Efex Pro and Lightroom.

Yesterday’s photowalk

A couple of times per year I meet up with a some friends that I met via Google+. Yesterday was one of those occasions. We went to Långholmen in Stockholm, which is an island where there used to be a prison. These days it’s a museum, hotel, restaurant etc.

Where ever we go on our walks, it seems we always end up in Old Town, Stockholm at last. No exception this time. This is a picture I got from there.

A foggy beach

A couple of years ago, me and a couple of friends went up really early in the morning with hopes to catch the sunrise with our cameras. It turned out to be one of the foggiest mornings I’ve ever experienced. So not much sunrise there.

But I think it was all good. Fog, in my opinion, is a far better friend for the photographer.

This picture was taken at Hornstulls beach in Stockholm at that morning.

Boat leaving Stockholm

This is a picture I took a couple of years ago in Stockholm. From what I remember it was taken with my Nikon CoolPix P-7000, which I sold years ago. Today again, I am sometimes thinking about getting me a compact camera. I liked the CoolPix. It was rather small, easy to use, and could do RAW-format (which I guess many compacts can do today).

Ship leaving harbour

Hamngatan, Stockholm

A couple of days ago at Hamngatan in Stockholm. It was late afternoon. The sun was about to set. I took out my phone and took this picture. Also edited on my phone with the Enlight App for iOS.

It had been a while since I have done any photography. The inspiration has been absent for a while. And still is. But that’s ok. It comes back when it does. No need to force it.

On the move

Yesterday I had the opportunity to finish from work early. I had my camera with me, so I went downtown to stroll around and get some pictures. Last couple of times I’ve been out, it feels I have gone to basically the same places. So now I wanted to try to go somewhere I hadn’t been so much before.

I decided as usual on my way downtown where to go. Kungsträdgården became the subway station where I hopped off. And then walked out on Skeppsholmen, and Kastellholmen. It was a really beautiful afternoon, though it was cold and windy. A lot of shots were taken. You’ll see some of them here in the days to come.

The picture in this post was taken at the subway station where I started my trip downtown. It is inside the Stadshagen station.
